Federal Baseball Kickstarter mentions iOOTP
Sounds interesting and all, a fantasy baseball sim with Madden like franchise support, but I don't think I agree with their explanation of how it's different from iOOTP. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you able to exert more control if you want to in iOOTP or is thwe ability to really manage rosters and customize still mainly regulated to OOTP? I went over to android last year so I don't have the game anymore to check or debunk this myself.
How is Federal Baseball different than iOOTP?

Well, we introduced the Player Editor this year, so you can edit players if they're not developing the way you want them to. His blanket statement is odd, though: Players may or may not develop according to real life in iOOTP, despite his claims to the contrary. I guess players develop "on rails" in his game, in a sense.
But when you start an historical league in iOOTP, the teams look like they did in real life, as he says they do in his game. I don't understand what distinction he's trying to draw there. And then he says: Quote:
It sounds, though, like his game is focused more on single season replays, which isn't what iOOTP or OOTP are really all about. |

iOOTP does not have an option to use historical transactions and lineups. So, once a season begins, the trades that happened in real life will not happen in iOOTP. (I'm not sure if Federal Baseball will be any different.) However, trading can be enabled in iOOTP. The same is true in Federal Baseball. So, I assume that in Federal Baseball Johnny Bench could get traded to a different team during the season. So could Derek Jeter.
In iOOTP, if you decide to advance to the next season, you do introduce fictional players to the league. League evolution also does not occur. So, the example of Seattle and Toronto is correct. I'm not sure how Federal Baseball will handle the transition from one season to the next. If players have been traded during the first season, what will Federal Baseball do to those players during the following season? Return them to their original teams? Things could get strange roster-wise during the following seasons. (For example, if the Reds traded Johnny Bench, who would be their catcher the next season? If the game doesn't return Bench to the Reds, they will be without a key part of the Big Red Machine. Will Pat Corrales be expected to pick up the slack?) Federal Baseball claims to correct some of the historical problems with iOOTP. But it's not clear how they'll do it. P.S. OOTP is about single season replays, if you want it to be. It handles them just fine! Please don't perpetuate a myth. |

I like iOOTP just fine. If I want to play a single season I just disable trading. If I want to have a league I can also disable trading and players are drafted the year they actually enter the league if I've purchased those seasons. They might not be on their actual teams but so what they are still in the league when they should be. If they all developed exactly as in real life it would be a little boring. And as said if your players are not advancing as you want you can change their ratings with the editor.
No complaints here the game is progressing fine and fun to play. 👍 |

Sure, OOTP handles single season replays just fine, but my point was that it's not the game's primary focus, like with Strat. And this new game seems to fall in that category.
OOTP's main focus is on career play, with the option to do accurate single season replays, if that's your thing. |

I know what you meant, Brad. I'm still wondering how Federal Baseball will do what is promised. If you start before 1995, Derek Jeter will enter the draft pool prior to the 1995 season. He could be drafted by the Red Sox in Federal Baseball.

Say it ain't so. Jeter a Red Sox. The game would crash. |
