Questions about commish side of game

I have some specific questions about running the commish-side of an online league. If anyone has the time to give me some suggestions or answer any of the questions listed below, I would greatly appreciate your help.

1. I'm running an online league on OOTP X, with some friends and we are using the 2009 MLB quick-start that came with the game. Anyway, I've set up the FTP options on my end. When I zipped up the folder and uploaded to my server, they all have downloaded and said the FTP options are already loaded for them. Is that normal? I thought I needed to give the information to them to fill in?

2. On to the next question. I'm using FTP to create uploads. With the initial file, as I mentioned above, I zipped up the full folder (I named it NDLMLB.lg) and uploaded that to my server. They downloaded it and unzipped into the appropriate folder. My question now is when they export their changes and I go in to import their changes and run the sim. After that, I will upload the changes and then all they need to do is check for updated files, correct? There is no need to zip up anything else in the future. I guess I just want clarification for carrying out the sims in the future.

I found a thread from the OOTP 9 commish area with a checklist of items to do each sim, but just wanted to double-check some things.

Thanks for your help.

1. Yes, that's normal.

2. I'm not sure I follow you. You'll upload a new league file after every sim.

I think not having done the commish side before, I'm worried that I will miss a step on the upload. As long as I do the "create & upload league file" it will all be done through the settings I set up? Then the others will d/l through the game?

Thanks again for the answers.

Correct.

If you're using league reports, you'll need to do that also, but the above will cover the league file portion of your duties.

I am doing league reports as well. I'm hoping uploading them using FileZilla will be faster than creating them inside the game.

Thanks, cooley, for your help.

Another question popped up about receiving everyone's exports. I was told a couple of guys made changes and uploaded their changes to the game. So, I logged on and looked for the changes under the Game > Game Setup > Online Options > Import all teams from server.

However, none were there. So, I went to those two team's pages and hit "Import Team via FTP" and that worked. Is that the proper way to pull everyone's exports?

Thanks for the help again.

Just like you described. From the download screen on the Commish Portal.
