Well, I am doing the inaugural draft the long way haha but it is fun. That would be great because it seems to be just the word doc when I download it. The parks have the same problem too, I think. they haven't been zipped. Do I also delete the AL if I have moved all the teams to the NL? Finally, the teams have irregular rosters. Some have 11 players and some have 15 or even 18 players on their rosters. I thought it would be wise to hold an 11 round draft and the rest of the players would be signed as free agents.

I checked the 1871 league and for some reason it is a gb. Not sure which files are that large. I beleive all the saves from the other years are less than that.
But setting it up yourself might actually be more helpful in the long run.
As far as the AL, do not delete the AL but you will have to turn off playoffs or set up a custom playoff. Otherwise the game might crash because there is no team from the AL to play in the playoffs.

It would depend on how you are playing regarding the irregular rosters.
The guide is ment more for people who want to have players on the correct teams. Some teams had only 11 players back then. But keep in mind some teams folded during the season so not having 15 players didnt matter. Thats were the transaction file comes in handy. It follows the real league transaction. So you should not run into not enough active players on roster. At least i didn't but you may need to adjust fatigue and turn injuries down.

I wanted to have the players on the correct rosters. All right! I got my photos working and now all I have to do is the draft.....again haha. I think I'll do 11 rounds since you said that some teams did fold which did happen a lot in the 19th century if I remember correctly. Now, I've got to figure out why only 8 teams are in the draft but the league says there are 9 teams. You have helped greatly! Thank you so much!

BaseballMan,

Thanks for creeating this guide. I wish I had seen it much sooner than I did. It would've saved me a couple of searing headaches.

Its not perfect and you may find things that work better for you but im glad it helped.
I had those same headaches.
When i was trying to get players to go to the correct teams it took me almost a year to sim a league. In my current league i simmed from 1871 to 1903 in about 2 weeks.
But its worth having the 19th century players replaying their careers on their actual teams.

I just set the draft for 1 rd and draft 1 player for each team and then sign the rest as free agents.

In your transcations, you have both Bill Lennon and Lip Pike losing their jobs. The former on 7/21 1871 and the latter on 5/23/1871. Do I have to suspend them or does the story play out naturally? And I wanted to compare the historical stats with the in-game stats but didn't know how I could go about that.

My transactions are more of a cheat sheet to keep track of player movement. Rather than having to look it up.
You do have to make the movements manually. There is no automatic movement of players in historical 19th century leagues that i am aware of.

Some transactions are for owners and historical managers.
You will have to create them. I just use historical managers in name only.
If you do create them and use the real player movement then for the most part you will see managers like McGraw, Mack and Wright and Anson
leading in manager wins
I tried to put whether it was an owner, manager or player on the transaction sheet.

So, I finished my first season and I am at 1/1/1872. The Rockford Forest Citys and Fort Wayne Kekiongas should have folded and I cannot take temporary command. Their players are still signed with these teams and I cannot release them from their contracts manually. I am not sure what to do here. I am sorry I have so many questions, btw.

Has your game been updated since you started the league? If so remember that ootp updates will overwrite that teams file and you will need to copy the edited one back.

You can always tell if it is the original game teams file as it will have all modern abbreviations for the franchise ids.

Also make sure the
Franchise and team is are correct under the teams setting within the game.

The reason you can't take control of either team may be that you may not be set as commish of the league.

I always create one manager as a commish.
Hope that helps.

I imported my 1871 start league into OOTP 20 without any problems.
I was able to use the process i described in the guide and found the correct teams in the real league set up show up. Also the rookies go to correct teams. So far it looks like if you were able to run a more accurate 19th century league in ootp19, you should be able to do the same in ootp20.

Hello! Are your dropbox files still around? The link seems to be broken.

I updated what i have and what stuff i have collected from the community.
I am adding my 1871-1872 seasons so you can get a better idea of the process i use. I think i will add more seasons as i am up to 1981 but im holding back because it takes time to add each season and i may want to start a league history thread and i dont want to spoil the ending.
The transaction spreadsheet is still a work in progress and contains player moves, manager moves as well as owners.
I try to use real dates but in some case i had to estimate a date.
I thought about checking player positions on the rosters but right now i haven't had the time. I'm not sure if its possible as there weren't as many players back then and a lot of them played several positions anyway.
Its still some manual work to start in 1871 but maybe this will give you some ideas and help get you started.
Feel free to use anything you may find useful but keep in mind a lot of it is still a work in progress.
If you have any suggestions or can add anything let me know.
I havent used drop box that much but heres the link.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/iio7h1ey3...Xdw5djCKa?dl=0

Let me know if it doesnt work.

BaseballMan ...thank you for uploading your files again, as well as for the 19th Century Guide, which answered some questions about results I've gotten in previous historical seasons. Quite the monumental work!

Justafan deserves credit for the logos. All i did was organize them.
I did download some of the photos. Mostly owners but i havent resized them yet or made sure they were automatically imported by the game.
I was concentrating on the transactions and a rotation list.

In your first post of this thread you seemed to duplicate a step:

Quote:
Step 3. Uncheck automatic import of financial settings. Make sure automatically expand league and Hold expansion draft are checked.
The league will not actually have an expansion draft but if you don’t have one scheduled I have found the game will allow expansion teams to sign players before you even have a chance to take control of the teams. I will explain how to get around the expansion draft later.

Step 2 Uncheck automatic import of financial settings. Make sure automatically expand league and Hold expansion draft are checked.
The league will not actually have an expansion draft but if you don’t have one scheduled I have found the game will allow expansion teams to sign players before you even have a chance to take control of the teams. I will explain how to get around the expansion draft later.
I considered deleting it for you, but I thought telling you might trigger another step you meant to type.

EDIT: Also, does dropbox have a problem automatically deleting files or something? Reading through the thread it sounds like they disappear a lot.
