Possible to play with finances off?
Is this possible?

Not possible, sorry. Cap/budget handling is a pretty integral part of roster management in modern hockey, and it extends into some areas that aren't obvious at first - e.g. a player's trade value is lower if he has a bad contract (too expensive and/or too many years.) So, pulling finances out entirely would have really far-reaching effects. If you wanted to minimize the effects of finances, you could play a sandbox mode game and increase budgets/caps to a level where teams can spend freely (and historical mode, particularly in the pre-free agent era, has fewer financial restrictions.)
