Crash when advancing

I had been playing a custom historical game starting in 1917 on FHM8. I bought FHM9 and transferred my save game from FHM8. Played through the '90 season with FHM9 flawlessly. When it came to advance to the '91 season, it immediately freezes and crashes. Has this happened to anyone else? Was it fixed?
I have been playing this particular game for close to a year and I feel sick when I think of starting over. Has anyone completed 1917 to present successfully or is it something that won't happen because of the size the file eventually gets?
Edit: Never mind. I'll just REPLAY the season I just played again and see if it happens again. This being my third try, I think it's too ambitious to do 1917 to present. The game just won't do it!
Edit: The game hung while importing this time around and after verifying the files and trying other fixes, the problem remains so unfortunately, I've asked Steam for a refund as I have only owned FHM9 for about 40 hours and I've already lost interest in playing. Looks like I'm putting the game down for another 8 months after this latest incident.

As you get closer to present, the game can appear to 'hang' but it doesn't actually crash unless you physically make it. You just need to wait it out as it builds the significant database.

I ran many tests through Historical and it will work.
