How to Prevent Long-Term Injuries in OOTP
Hire an excellent trainer. I was GM of the Orioles in a 2018 simulation and had the injury rating on "Normal". We still had a few guys out for the season and after the season I fired the trainer. I hired a new one, Sue Falsone, who has an "Excellent" rating. Immediately, some of our guys who were out for months were healing faster and came back sooner. The same thing happened in 2019. It didn't happen with all of the players, but in most cases we were able to avoid having guys out for long-term.

In my current season I have lost 16 active roster players to the DL. 5 of them were for more than 3 months, and one was a career ending injury.
I went to staff and fired my trainer and hired a new one. Dang was he expensive at $540,000/yr. Not sure if he's worth it because I signed him mid-september, and since hiring him 2 more pitchers went down with 3 week-plus injuries. I'm basically using my AAA and some AA pitchers in the playoffs it's so bad... |

Looks like Sue worked out much better for the O's than she did for the Dodgers the couple of years she worked for them in real life.
