It's going to be a completely separate game. So your current team will continue to exist in OOTP19 (they will keep the 19 servers up at least 1 more year) and everyone will be starting new teams in OOTP20 from scratch. Most likely, the 19 version will become less active as players transition to 20.

So anyone who put money into their 2019 team just loses the money and has to start over their team for 2020?

I'm not even affected by that, I'm just saying. Sucks for them if that's the case.

FTR I haven't spent a dollar on the game other than the initial purchase of the software.

Yeah pretty much. But that was clear from the beginning, so we chose to spend money anyways.

The $350 that I spent for a Sony Betamax is doing me no good right now.

Thankfully we have those who do spend money and some who have spent a lot who make it possible to have a fun game like PT.

The AH will die. Even more than it has since the announcement of 20

I don't see the logic. The AH will serve as a method to get better players just like it is now. The only reason action in the AH declined was because people are starting to think about moving on to OOTP20, and most of us don't have the available hours to keep 1-3 teams in both versions going.

Most players will more than likely move on to the 20 version so, while the auction house will remain, there will be a lot fewer new cards being added to the market and a lot fewer buyers for the cards that are there.

Hence with much fewer buyers I would assume prices drop. I know cards would be more rare which should push prices up but if nobody spending money then you won't be selling your card and you won't be getting ANY PP for it.

At that point the seller either keeps the card and uses it or drops his price to get some cash for buying what he actually wants.

I think there will be a lot more 7 day auctions instead of 12 hour ones.

I spent $30 on dinner last night, then pooped it all out and have nothing to show for it! restaurants are such a scam

when supply and demand go down at the same time/rate prices stay the same

the people who are still actively buying cards will be competing over very few copies, potential sellers don't need PP for a version they are no longer playing

Actually your body absorbed all kinds of nutrients and depending on what you ate, contributed to either good health or addition of cholesterol. So that 30$ did leave you with something to show for.

In looking at my own situation I'll be active on the AH in 2019 but since I have no use for some cards I'll dump them for whatever I can get.

As for fewer buyers competing for the same cards, for the top end cards that's true but if there are far fewer players they may be competing for different cards and I would have to believe the "I'll just buy PP to meet this price" should be infrequent. So either drop the price or I'll continue to pull packs and hope.

We'll have to see how it actually plays out, both for mid tier cards and high end cards....afterall, it's possible and likely it shuts down next spring when 21 comes out.
