Note about 2nd generation devices
Hey guys,
just a clarification: We did test iOOTP on an iPhone 3G, and it does indeed run. However, it is very slow to load and sometimes slows down while simulating, and we cannot promise it can handle the memory requirements for 'old' leagues (simmed several years into the future). If you want to try the game on a 2nd generation device (iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 2nd gen), give it a go. But please don't complain if it runs too slow for your taste Cheers, Markus PS: I updated the FAQ accordingly...

Sweet! I have a 3G and I'm going to load it on that. I promise not to complain for slow play...scout's honor. Can't wait for tomorrow!

If I were to buy an ipod touch in order to get this game, what would be the best one to shoot for? It's been 4 years since I have bought an ipod and we need a new one anyway, but I might as well get the one that is going to run this the best

Get the 4th generation one if money is no issue... or a used 3rd gen from eBay for example.

The best would be the 4. Generation (the newest). But I did all the testing on my 3. Generation iPod Touch and it runs very good so if you can get a good deal for a 3. Generation iPod, that will work, too.

I just set up a 16 team 4 division fictional league and thought the setup time and draft running time (I did a auto draft) were absolutely fine. I also just advanced a day to the start of the regular season without any problems and it runs fine. I did have to restart my ipod touch after install, which I do recommened everyone do after first installing the game, but other than that I think we will be ok.

I posted this in the FAQ thread. But copied it over to here in case anyone else has a 2nd gen ipod touch.
I just downloaded the game for my ipod touch 2nd gen 8gig. I transferred all my music onto my pc and deleted apps I wasn't using. It took about a minute and half to load the game and about the same amount of time to load a new Major League game. I usually play out games so getting through a few seasons may take a while. But I'm going to experiment a bit to see what happens with a few years of history for the league. I'll post my results when I do this. So far so good. This is pretty sweet! |
