Well, I'm about to turn 36 and I purchased the first version when I was 15 or 16 so I played some in high school and through college. That just happened to be 20 years ago so I've been playing this game over half my life. That is crazy.

I'm a senior in college, and I first bought OOTP during my freshman year I believe. Have spent countless hours playing OOTP during my college years and have no regrets about it

as long as it doesn't interfere with your partying... err ahh... study habits, it's all good.

i played 'everquest' in college... but i never got above level 15 until grad school, lol. i was "busy" those first four years. once most of the people i knew graduated and moved away, i had a lot more time on my hands. i played the sh%$ out of madden 2k on the ps2. i think i still have a hemorrhoid from sitting on edge of couch so much ~20 years ago, LoL!

one drunken night this friend of a friend decided i was exagerrating about how good i was... it was 49-7 at halftime. i had like 4-5 interceptions and he clearly didn't know what hit him. he wasn't even as good as "All-Madden" AI. he shouldn't have scored at all. i blame alcohol and 'tweed.'

listen, you are never going to be sorrounded by such pretty girls (or boys depending on context) the rest of your life... seriously, think with your gentials -- whatever they may be.. (not mysoginistic... goes for all genders, all orientations)

even the ugly ones are cute at that age! i cannot stress this enough... enjoy your lithe counterparts! you won't like ~40+. they all need viagra, because everyone is just kinda gross at that point LoL (few exceptions, of course, and fewer as time goes by) -- and more so because not much is new and exciting anymore. do each of everything a few thousand times and it's not so novel anymore. many need that little blue pill at that point...

i'm like that lab mouse that keeps pressing the pleasure button instead of the button for food, even at ~40, lol.... it all a lost cause, embrace the hedonsim there's no coming back from this downward spiral since the 1970's BWHAHAHA

Edit: actual advice: get a real degree... not one that is a dime a dozen, liberal arts, or something you can only be a professor with, if you get a phD... otherwise you are just financially burdening yourself financially with no return likely to overcome that lose of investing early with a non-college required job plus all the sunk costs added ontop of that. it's really simple math.

now, if you family/network has a job waiting for you... nevermind.. there's no such thing as upward mobility... if you want a promotion, you go out and apply to better jobs... tehy don't promote a piece tha tworks.. they hire new pieces as they vacate. otherwise, it creates more work and more uncertainty. promoting from within is a farce, lol...

I started playing OOTP 3 in college. I now live near San Diego State and still play OOTP 20. Does that count?!

quarter barrel tuesday with friends . then, bar specials wed-sat. small bar night on sunday, but they closed earlier (12am) in my state - bit conservative around here. heck some counties stil have 'blue laws' in 2019. small gathering on mondays - hit and miss... rinse, repeat. oh, and 30-40hours/wk job plus 15-16 credits a semester ... fun times. not sure when i slept as i look back. never failed a class and certainly didn't take 5 years like most, nowadays. i only needed 23 credits my senior year. i had to take an extra 1credit blow-off class to be full-time during second semester.

grad school -- nothing.. did nothing, lol... night and day. barely drink now... think 2 years ago on new year's i had a couple glasses of champagne. may have had 1 beer since then? few and far between....

think i'd be dead in 2 weeks, if i tried that now.

Although not in college, I started playing the game basically since inception while on active duty in the Navy. I brought my laptop with OOTP and it passed many evenings at sea.

I have loved this game since it 1st came out, and I learn something new all of the time.

Enjoy your college days!!

Hi there,

I'm not that good at playing the game, cause I never play too long and have no time to learn how to get better at the game. I think it's because I can't concentrate on playing when I've too many tasks to do (college assignments or research papers), my professor wants me to participate in conferences and I have to write speeches all the time... it's just driving me mad..

My nickname: "skyballer455"

Any time real life gets in the way of playing OOTP, it's a darn shame!
Hang in there- the learning curve might be steep but it certainly isn't unconquerable (especially for someone navigating the academic life.)

I go to CU and have two or three friends who play, although I think I’m the only one posting online about it

Glad to see the game lives on in another generation, as someone who went from Baseball Mogul to OOTP two decades ago, this game was a revelation. I'm glad I didn't get OOTP until the end of college or else I'd have surely been playing in class.
