They're on the team strategy page, so I'm guessing no.

So, is the game treating the Opener as some sort of declared position? Like the manager has to put it on his lineup card that the guy is an Opener not a Starter? While not realistic, that would solve the problem of a team having a full pitching staff of SP and never knowing if they are set to pitch 1 inning or 9.
Yes, openers and followers essentially have to be "declared" before the game, so that the game AI will know what fatigue levels to use.

Some nice additions here, but seems incomplete possibly to lack of space:

Hey Donkey Kong Sr. I don't have the game yet (yeah, I'm a Steam user). Where do you "declare" whether a pitcher is going to be an "opener or closer" as opposed to a normal starter? I'm just trying to understand how, over the course of a day, the AI will slot in an opener vs a starter.

Under Player Strategy, you check the Opener or Follower box. Then, as Matt said, you put the Follower as a SP. It makes sense since they play as if they are a SP. Your Openers reside in you BP and I guess the game picks the most rested. So, you could have 4 to 6 followers and just load your pen full of Openers with secondary roles and let the AI figure out who is going that day. You'll never get any complete games though.

It's probably an awesome setting for your #4/#5 quality SPs (perhaps staggered instead of back to back) to get better games out of them. Which I believe is essentially the real-life intentions of using an Opener.

I guess then it follows that the AI knows who is checked as an opener or follower so when the game is played, it reacts by setting it's lineup accordingly.

Thanks. That makes sense. It'll be interesting to see how this all works out.

Please do let us know how well/not well things work. Obviously being a new feature there will be adjustments and tuning to get it working properly.

I think Lefty would have fared slightly better in his ratings if his 1937 all-star season was used instead of 1933 (better numbers across the board for him in '37)... but what can ya do....

just hope he goes up against a team full of poor contact/bad eye/terrible avoid K ratings

Here's another new achievement that will probably net you an extra 100 PP each season...

The way I approach pitching, those will be the only shutout achievements I get.

The Cards are better. But would like Movement, speed and defense added to the search. Not sure R or L needed for search if no defense.

How does the watch list work? I can see I can watch an existing auction, but I thought the feature was supposed to be used for players you wanted but were NOT on the auction house at that moment.

Depth charts better. Starting SS can backup 2b.

New Achievement: Upset Win. 100 pts. I'm not sure exactly what triggers it. I defeated the first place team 13-2 and my team was well below .500 and near the bottom of the entry pool.

It's hard to believe you get 100 pts every time you beat a first place team, but your team has to be bad and/or the score lopsided.

That's not new. It was in 19. Just players like you had such good teams you didn't see it.

I saw it once early. I read somewhere you have to win by 10 or more over a team that's much better than you, but how that's determined wasn't specified.
