Waiting for a new job

How long does it take in general to receive a job offer?
I wanted to become a GM/Head coach of another team because I won the championships two times in a row. I did not extend my contract because I thought that I could use a new challenge with a different team.
These two championship wins are in my first two years of my career in this game. I suppose these results would make me a wanted GM/head coach. I have been waiting for hours and I am almost two seasons further and I still did not receive a single job offer...
What is going on? Should I just start a new game?

What league are you in? When you started your game, did you set all leagues playable, or are you waiting for a specific league job?

I mean, the NHL for instance only has 31 coaches. On average, maybe 3 or 4 coaches lose their jobs. Although this year, not a single coach has been fired yet. It's going to take time.

Also to check, you don't have Do Not Disturb on do you? Because you might be missing messages.

Hi Adam,

I played the National league in Switzerland. All leagues are on and Do Not Disturb is off.
So is it a case of bad luck and I should wait a bit longer?

It's a little surprising that it's taking that long. What's your nationality in the game, and what's your reputation (you can see it if you search for yourself in the staff tab of the search screen)?

That's what I was thinking. My nationality is American (born in Hawaii) and my reputation is Relatively unknown.

No, with American and that level of reputation, you should at least be getting some offers from junior teams or the low minors like SPHL or FHL (assuming you have them set to playable in the game.) Can you upload the save for us to take a look at? I'd like to see if there's something going wrong with the hiring process, or if you've just had really bad luck.

Got the save and played forward a couple of seasons. It looks like the main problem is an unusual amount of stability in the North American minors and juniors (and I'm going to investigate that further), combined with you being unemployed with a reputation that's still pretty low. The few open jobs are going to much higher-reputation people, higher than the slight advantage you get as a human candidate can override. The problem is, while your on the sidelines other GM's are improving their reputations, so short of a lot of success running lower-level national teams it's going to take an exceptional number of job openings at once to get you hired again. And it could be quite some time before that happens.

Reading the thread something surprised me.

Nationality is actually important to get a job? I'm playing with my real nationality (Uruguay, South America). I'm wondering if that is going to affect my gameplay.

It won't completely rule you out from getting jobs, but it does reduce the built-in advantage you have over the non-human GM's. If you're playing as a nationality that doesn't have a team in a playable league in the game, it's probably a good idea to add a second nationality from a hockey country to help out a bit.

In such cases, it is necessary to leave the job. If you already don't like the way things are at work, you don't have to wait until you get used to it. Try your hand at something else, change your field of activity, maybe you need some fresh ideas.

I think you shouldn't worry about it, but just wait for your turn. Perhaps these are some and you will soon be offered a job. On the other hand, if you have such a skill that not everyone has, then why are you worried at all? You have amazing skills and people with such skills are always needed, I think there was a small mistake and they forgot about you. You should remind yourself and show how cool you are, and then you are absolutely likely to be hired. Don't sit in one place and always get your way. If you are not offered a job for a long time, then act yourself. You will succeed, good luck!

I agree with SweetyDalas. If you have unique skills, you have nothing to worry about. For example, my primary specialization is accounting. I was so worried when I was to get my first job offer. I’ve looked through all the Banking resume examples to pick the best one. Then my friend asked me why I was so worried. And, you know, this question made me think of the cause of my worry. It turned out that there was nothing to worry about. So, humans are always afraid of uncertainty. That’s our main fear, but it’s still easy to overcome. Just ask yourself why you are afraid.
