How do YOU separate out your boxers?

I have 5 different regions, each boxer is assigned to their home group::
AABF - African / Arabian
APBC - Asian Pacific
EBU - European
LABO - Latin American
NABA - North American

I also put them in groups representing their skill:
Contenders - Those that make the top ten, these change often.

For those not in the top ten, they are kept in their talent/skill group:
Gatekeepers - Rated 5 and above
Journeymen - Rated 3 and 4
Trailhorses - Rated 1 and 2
Tomato Cans - Rated 0

How about you?

Underneath the IBU "International Boxing Union" umbrella (ALL) group I have several geopolitical organizations:

NABF - North American Boxing Federation
EMPIRE - British Empire Boxing Commission (England, Scotland, Wales, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Afrika)
EBU - European Boxing Union (Europe, England, Scotland, Wales, and Eire)
PNBF - Pacific Northwest Boxing Federation (Western Canada and Western USA)
CPBF - Canadian Professional Boxing Federation
ABA - American Boxing Association
ANZBU - Australia and New Zealand Boxing Union
SABU - South Afrikan Boxing Union

Mine is an alternate history universe working from the 1890s onward. Most fighters are of the appropriate timeline but some are inserted arbitrarily from different periods.

In my base uni I don't, just male or female.

In my separate uni's I tend to keep it fairly simple, usually grouped by their debut, i.e. 1942.

Same here, I pay attention to the ratings & try to make fights competitive & as even as I can (and why I like multiple ratings) but it makes it interesting when the upsets occur.

Or it's even more interesting when you think 2 fighters are evenly matched & one just dominates the other - like Canelo did to JCC.

I don't group them in my fictional uni because it's too much trouble.

As far as skills go, the autoscheduler handles most of that for me. Fighters in their first five fights get opponents rated 0-1. Fighters in their 6th through 10th fights get opponents rated 0-3. Top 20 contenders get opponents rated 4+, then remaining top 100 contenders get opponents rated 2+, then top 400 contenders get opponents rated 1+. After that is a an open schedule set for anyone who hasn't had a fight yet this session.

Never occurred to me, but good approach.

I've got one world title, the Empire Boxing Commission with the eight original weight divisions used (the in between divisions are reassigned accordingly)

10 regionals:
ABU-African Boxing Union
ABF-Asian Boxing Federation
UKBE-United Kingdom/British Empire
CBU-Celtic Boxing Union
EBU-European Boxing Union
LBU-Latin Boxing Union
OCB-Oceanic Coalition of Boxing
SCC-Scandanavian Combat Commission
NABF-North American Boxing Federation
SABF-South American Boxing Federation
*Some countries are assigned to different regions than they're part of in reality just for a better balance.

I use every fighter available and matchups are made based on rankings with the lower ranked fighters being assigned fewer round bouts. I also try to match the top fighters as close in ratings when I can.

For me, I have pretty loose regulations on regional belts. I make my matchups based on the world rankings so yes, fighters from different regions fight all the time and I'll set up regional title bouts when they present themselves.
