On the "More Coaching Staff" front, how about roving instructors? They could specialize in teaching different skills; perhaps give each one a primary and a secondary skill as an area of focus (e.g. eye and speed, or control and hold runner). A team could hire one instructor each for position players and pitchers, and give each instructor a list of, say, four prospects to work with--and those prospects would be more likely to advance toward their full potential in those skills. This would give players a more active hand in the development of their prospects. It would also create a natural transitional role into the personnel side for recently-retired players (the skills they specialize in could be tied to their strongest attributes as players) and a way to maintain the relationship to a franchise after they retire.
