Favourite “views” to use?
So now that there is increased customization and new stats/info that we can display for player views. What have you guys been using? I’m looking to add to the defaults and I’m sure someone out there has some good ones to share.

It would take too long to type out the views I have made.
One of my favorite things to do is to make combo views using both ratings and stats. With a wide screen it is a great way to view prospects coming through the system and the waiver wire. That's not new for v21, I've done it for years, but v21 has so many more options to pick from. On my team pitching tab I have 2 views I made and use. One with much expanded stats that look more like "normal" pitching stats. One that is titled "bullpen" adding things like pitches over last 5 days, pct rest, and pressure situations. With local vs global save capability I have one view for my youth complex. It is now easy to take one view and make slight changes for another area and save it there as local. Haven't been through my first draft yet but I can already see where I will take my MiL player evaluation views (pitcher and batter) and customize them slightly for the draft and save it locally there. My waiver wire view is the same as my pitcher and batter evaluation views combining ratings and stats except it now has "claiming team" added (not available before v21) and is saved locally. As far as building views, whether batter or pitcher, I simply start with a default view and open the menu and start selecting whatever I think I might need. It's easy to fill a wide screen As I move on looking at the views I have, it may occur to me "I need to add this" and I edit away. There is so much flexibility now and the possibilities are almost endless. The great thing it is so easy to do. In previous versions you might get there and think "I wish I could see this and that" well now you pretty much can. And you can also save locally to "one situation" only screens so it only shows up there. It's brilliant |

I find myself using five views pretty much exclusively:
1) Batting ratings (default plus maybe add a few ratings). This just contains all the split ratings for vR and vL to make the best decisions for platoon & batting order decisions. 2) "Hit Ratings v Results" (custom created). This contains the main ratings (no splits) as well as the important offensive stats. This one is used to analyze stats in context of their ratings. I find this incredibly useful in a number of ways. Probably my #1 used view. 3) "Pitch Ratings v Results" (custom created). Basically the same thing but for pitchers. These two views are also great for exporting data and playing with correlations in Excel. 4) "Baserunning Strategy" - basically this view has all the speed-related ratings & stats, bunt for hit, all that stuff. I use this pretty much only in the individual player strategy page to set the baserunning strategies per player. 5) "Draft View" basically includes the "potential" ratings as well as age, personality, slot demand, etc and is used for drafting. That's pretty much it. Covers all the bases IMO. |

Good reads . These are main 3 stats for batters that I follow
https://library.fangraphs.com/offense/woba/ https://library.fangraphs.com/offense/wrc/ https://library.fangraphs.com/offense/wraa/ I track babip just to see if the batter has been extremely lucky or unlucky or if he is actually hitting above league babip every year https://library.fangraphs.com/offense/babip/ For pitchers hr/9, bb/9 and k/9 are really important especially to track development. Babip again for pitchers. Not in front of game to give the other categories but ootp doesn't track a couple of really important pitcher categories. So I can't recall off the top of my head. I know it doesn't track siera. Fangraphs has a great glossary and a lot of info on metrics. My ootp game jumped up big time when I converted to that line of thinking in ootp 18. |
