Trade - Retain $$ function

There seems to be a bug where the more you ask the CPU to retain money for a player they are offering the more likely they are to accept the trade, when it should be the opposite.

I've also noticed the more I ask the CPU to retain on a player they are trading me, the number of players they will accept in the trade increases. So instead of asking for my 5 best players suddenly its 10 and they are willing to take lesser rated players all when i ask them to eat more of the contract.

Here is an example trade:

Cubs: LF Kyle Schwarber, RP Dan Winkler
Mets: CL Edwin Diaz, RP Justin Wilson

If I ask the CPU to take on 50% of Wilson's contract it accepts the trade, anything lower and it doesn't.

It definitely doesn't happen for me in my test. Sometimes increasing the retained portion will more evenly match the financials in the deal - for example, in the above situation, if the Cubs did not have the cap space to complete the deal without the retained portion, that could explain it.

In your case, I believe it's because you otherwise couldn't afford him. You only have 2M+ in available, so I'm guessing at full price (7.6M?) the only players you can trade away are players making some money.

When they retain 50%, then suddenly you can afford to take on the full deal, and so players making a min salary become open to dealing.

Ok, I can see why it's working that way and not a bug.

I guess it would be cool if the UI could be enhanced to highlight when the players requested are constrained by your finances. I can't think of another way to do it offhand that wouldn't likely complicate the existing interface.
