Region field on team settings page

On the team settings screen - right above "Nation" and below "Minor Team ID" is a new field for "Region" on a per team basis. Can we get an explanation for how that can be used in the game now?

This was added for Feeder League teams so that, for instance, a high school would have players from within that region. Quoting Matt: "90% of HS players should come within 100 miles of the HS, and 50% of college students within 500 miles of the school, and within a defined region for a team"

I don't think it has an effect on anything else.

Get out!!! I was hoping it could be used for exactly that! Was there a thread in which this was already discussed? I definitely missed it.

That said, just populating a city for those same feeders works as well, correct?

Does this also work for foreigners rules? As in can you have players for a specific team come only from that region (and foreigners would be counted as outside region)?

Yes, if your foreigner rules are based on the team nationality, then it will perform a region check instead of a strict nationality check if you have that set.

This can be a real game changer IF the AI knows to do this check before signing or drafting a player not after since then they just stick them in the reserve or minor league level which I think still happens.

It happens less but yes it still happens way too often. Any word on this?

I love Regions Field

Home of the Birmingham Barons I usually go to 20-30 games a year.
