Managing a major league team
I am new to the game, have been playing the demo for a few days now and am really enjoying it. The only issue I have is I can start and get on a minor league team and play as a manager while the GM takes care of the contracts and trades, but the only option for the major league team seems to be as GM
I really like the coaching aspect and the play by play system, better than my other baseball sim. But building a franchise, just seems tedius to me, especally at this stage. I was wondering if they was a option I missed on how to be a manager and not a GM of a major league team, and what setting would be the best to make the AI deal with every thing but the coaching and still be a good GM as far as running things and all? Thanks for any suggestions you may have |

You can adjust the options to let the computer handle promotions, signings, etc., while you handle lineups and pitching rotations.
Personally, I like to mix it up. Let the computer handle all minor league transactions (signing, releasing, promoting/demoting), while I handle all of the major league functions. I manage the lineups and rotations, but with input from the staff using the "ask manager for ..." actions. |

You can make yourself commissioner of the league and assign yourself as manager to a team (with the ability to be fireable or not fired). On the manager options screen you can you choose to pick lineups, rotations, depth charts, but leave GM responsibilities to the AI.
See link for manager options page where you choose what to control and what to not control. OOTP Baseball Manual - Manager Options Last edited by CecilCooper; 02-09-2009 at 05:08 PM. |
