Simulate a Fantasy Season

Greetings - new owner here.

I run a 12 team NL-only fantasy baseball league.

I bought OOTP20 to simulate the 2019 season using my league's fantasy rosters.

How would I best go about creating the league and assigning the players? Is there an import file format I could use?

It would probably be easiest to start a game with the current year in commissioner mode. Release all players as free agents. Edit league structure and names to just be the teams in your version. You may want to check ballpark settings to make them neutral. Then assign the proper players to the proper teams and ask the game to create a new schedule.

You can turn off injuries if that fits your model better. If you are planning to mimic transactions from your fantasy league, you should be able to do that as well, when the appropriate dates come around.

don't try to import 'created' player list into game. you must create players in game or have them created by the game (draft/feeder/discovery etc etc).

random debut might be something to look into too, in addition to boomcoach's suggestion.. depends on your intent/preferences etc.

the only drawback to dumping all players and a draft or re-assigning is you have 30T worth of MLB players... your league will be unusually stacked for ~10 years or more and then drastic and dramatic shifts in talent will occur as it reaches a more normal equillibrium for that size of a league.

you can 'autocalculate' the modifiers during this transition period, so it's not game breaking in anyway.. it'll jsut meander a bit before a normal yearly volatility is reached.

where everythign ebbs and flows around is 100% controlled by the league total modifiers under league settings->stats and AI tab. you can always rein it in, but talent distribution cannot be affected without deleting or changing players. if the league is filled with 5-10 "80" rated players on every team, the stats will be extremely flat. probably a lot more near-.500 teams in middle too.

PS -- i thoguht about it a second... since it's only 12 teams, you can make a league, then import historical teams... just delete the seed players before, so you don't mix them up. empty the league, then go import historical teams to each team.

i think the ratings are slightly different when imported this way?? could be wrong, but another thing to check before you decide the path you go.
