Possible football game coming from OOTP Devs?
So, some of you may have noticed in the newsletter announcing OOTP 15, there was a little blurb to the effect of ...

So... could be nothing, but it was odd for the OOTP newsletter to randomly mention the Super Bowl ... And the response on Facebook certainly stokes the fire a bit. This would be amazing news.. Perhaps an announcement upcoming during Super Bowl weekend?? I know Markus had said this isn't something he himself would take under, as he isn't familiar with American football and obviously it would cut into the resources he could put into developing OOTP. But I'm thinking perhaps a situation similar to FHM would be possible, where an ambitious developer or two could be working on the game, with access to the code and knowledge that comes from Markus, as well as the following of OOTP Devs? Anyway... thoughts? I would love to play a customizable American football game with even part of the depth that OOTP has! |

I thought the same thing when they mentioned the Super Bowl.
I would think that basketball would be first since its very similar to hockey and football would seem to take a lot of work(especially if they were doing both pro and the college game). |

If they were making a football game I would be all for it. The current simulations games out there are meh.

Because of what Markus has said in the past on this subject, I'm not holding my breath. I respect his stated intention to stay with sports he knows.
But I would welcome such a game, even if it were only as sophisticated as OOTP5. Just give me believable stats, a basic financial model, play calling and the ability to create fictional leagues, and I would be very happy.

These posts come up a lot these days, I hope the devs are taking note I like this conspiracy regarding Markus comment on the Superbowl, it was a random thing to read on the OOTP Baseball release notes for sure!
Regarding these 'Markus/the team don't understand the sport', Markus might not? But Sebastian has commented on one of these American Football OOTP games that he likes NFL and even attends the German League Games, adding this to the 'better then predicted sales of Franchise Hockey Manager' they might have enough cash lying around to employee an extra person ! |

So, in respect to Brad's not-so-subtle posts, either there is some sort of announcement coming regarding American Football, or Brad just gets off on leading us on. Either one's plausible.

I would love to see a pro football game that has Custom Leagues,NFL,AFL,CFL,WFL,USFL,AAFC and XFL and expansion,of course. Plus minor leagues.
Imagine an AAFC that doesn't merge with the NFL and is still around ten years later when the AFL begins. Or how about the CFL back in the late 1960's forming a league with teams from the USA. Switching the BC Lions with the Detroit Lions. Last edited by Orioles1966; 01-26-2014 at 08:32 AM. |

With the desaster called "FHM14" I don't see a football version on the horizon
