Best Chokers, Biggest Chokers
The game must hate me for building winners in my fiction league. Last four seasons:
2017: 118 wins, lose in Divisional round to wild card team. Mediocre pitcher (72-76/4.12 lifetime record) tosses a one-hitter and a two-hitter at us in same series. (In the next regular season, he'd no-hit us). 2018: 106 wins, same wildcard team, who won 87 games during regular season, bounces us from first round again. 2019: 119 wins. After taking a 2-1 lead, best pitching in baseball allows 30 runs over last three games. This from a well-rested staff; never need to overwork them in the regular season, since we won by so much. 2020: 119 wins again. Same team beats us in World Series, taking 3-0 lead when best pitching again gets hammered. Started comeback, then pitcher who was 11-17/4.86 shut us down in Game 6. Thinking about firing myself. That's the post-season for you, especially when there are multiple rounds.
In one of my earlier saves I had a team put up 116 wins, 125 wins, and another 116 wins in three consecutive seasons only to win the WS in that middle season, losing in the LDS both of the 116 win seasons to far inferior opponents. It is one of the things I like about my WPK league at this stage of league development- if we can win the pennant we have a decent chance (at least about 50%) of getting championship rings.

Geez, 4 years in a row. That is pretty brutal. Good luck, this season?
