Rosen, the ninth batter of the inning, flew to left to retire the side. In the bottom of the second, Bauer scored from third when Strickland botched the middle part of a possible 4-6-3 on a Skowron grounder. After three: Cleveland 3 New York 1. In the bottom of the fourth, Mantle led off with a 364 foot homer. Berra blasted one 425 feet to make it back-to-back home runs and tied the game. In the top of the fifth, the Indians loaded the bases with two out. But Strickland flew out to right and the Indians came up empty handed. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on first and two out, Harry Byrd took the mound for the Yankees. After six: Cleveland 3 New York 3. In the top of the seventh, Glynn broke the tie with a two-out RBI double. Strickland followed with a two-run single. With a runner on second and two out, Johnny Sain took the mound for the Yankees and got Ginsberg to retire the side. In the top of the eighth, Tom Morgan took the mound for the Yankees. In the bottom of the ninth, McDougald made it a one-run game with a 420 foot two-run homer. With bases empty and nobody out, Ray Narleski took the mound for the Indians and he got the Yankees three up three down to end the game. The Indians got 11 hits in the win.
