Incredibly great save...or incredibly bad luck

Save of the year. Or maybe Tuck put it in the only place that couldn't do damage.

I can't decide.

Decide: Great stick work by Holtby.

They're still talking about this today. Look, of course it has to be partly luck. Even with the greatest reflexes, agility, and speed, he had to unconsciously decide where to place his stick and if you notice from the photo or the video, it was not flat to the ice. A combination of skill and luck, then, as always in sports.

Of course the writer must go a bit overboard with "Holtby’s unbelievable move might go down as one of the most important moments in Stanley Cup history." But maybe, come to think of it. The G.K.'s had a wide open chance to turn around and take this second game away from the Caps. If the Caps now go on to win, then this play will be seen as the turning point.

Nice save but context matters. If Washington doesn't win the Cup it's meaningless. His opposite number actually made a Cup preserving save in the dying seconds of game 7 v Detroit in 2009.

90% luck. If Tuch gets any air under that puck it's a goal.

Holtby's ability to get off the post to be able to extend to give himself a chance at making that save makes that a great save. Top quality stuff.

Rightly or wrongly, that's how history is going to see it.
