How is this guy a potential frontline starter?
Quinn Priester, Seattle system. His potential is 50 stuff, 50 movement, and 45 control.
Is this based on my head scout saying he could grow much higher on potential and I should trust the scout it will increase? Can I see any other indicators that he is potentially more valuable in the future than his current projection indicates? I’m getting a lot of trade offers for him. |

I have Quinn in my Pirates system.
Potential is not supposed to increase. When it does happen, it's because the player is stunted or has a random talent change. A more accurate report could change it also. For this particular instance, it would help to see a screenshot.

Not sure why your scout views him that highly. I think he’s mostly viewed as a potential #4 or #5 starter.
In my save he ended up being an SP that generally was around a 5 ERA. But he did hold down a rotation spot for 5 years or so. |

What are his stats? Hr/9, bb/9 k/9
Without stats you don't know if your scout is correct or if every other scout is correct. Unless you have 100% accuracy turned on or look at the player in the editor you don't know his exact ratings. Its the scouts best judgement. Especially with young players. It why like 5 year mlb veterans every scout has them the same ratings even osa. But the kids it will vary immensely. Maybe the other team has him as a 4 star potential guy. You don't know. But if they are giving good trade offers then you can assume they are high on the kid. But what's the truth? Without looking behind the scenes you can't know for sure. So it comes down to your philosophy. How you want to run your team. Either trade him for a prospect your scout is higher on. Or roll the dice that Quinn is better then he looks. But you would need several year of minor league stats. 3+ years. At least then you can make a better decision. |

A trick,
Offer him in trades to see now other teams value him If you're getting a lot of good offers for him it *may* mean that your scout is wrong. |

Good point. Early releases of the game featured scouting reports that were a bit too sanguine about prospects.
