UFA on extended contract

Rittich was with Calgary when he would have signed for a 2 years extension. He was traded to NY and the next day after the trade, the message about NY not extending him appeared. I simulated a few days and his contract still shows to be extended in all the applicable boxes inside the player's contract window. I'm guessing he won't go UFA on July 1st and the message was triggered somehow in error.

Check his history on the player screen. When exactly did he sign the renewal, and when was he traded? I'm wondering if Calgary had an open negotiation with him during the trade and the auto-cancellation of that triggered the news message (for the new team.)

So it was already signed. Strange, I'll have to do some testing with trading guys who've signed an extensioin to see if I can figure out how that message got triggered. (And the new contract definitely will take effect on July 1, he won't be a UFA.)
