What is your line of work?

Just curious about us OOTP players and what everyone does for a living. I'll be first to go -- I'm an engineering student, graduating in a year!

Good deal. I may find myself in the paper industry; my major is chemical engineering. A lot of my friends have gone to work for paper companies.

i was just one of the ants in the farm .... worked on the paper machine/ winder area for 16 years, and then in shipping my last 6 years .... Kraft liner, on the West coast .... good luck in the chemical side of it. Goodness knows there's a lot to that and it makes a huge difference. Our plant changed some chemicals the last few years i was there, and it made a major difference in the paper and costs, in a good way.

what an interesting thread! Good idea!!!

Finally, a fellow blue-collar stiff. Me, I'm a writer, but I have a crappy retail loading dock job to pay the bills. Not being able to do any kind of algebra past the most basic pretty much precludes me from any college degrees, sadly. Never mind the straight A's in history and English.

what sort of writing? Yep. English and history - my major and minor decades ago at Cal-Stanislaus, ended up in lumber mills, paper mills and finally on a shipping dock. But, hey, it paid my bills and kept me sorta on the good side of sane. There's worse fate in life. Blue collar stiffs unite!
