Mac Users Who Can't Find Old Saved Games After Update

This happens because we changed the "bundle identifier" shortly before release. The bundle identifier is part of the "sandbox path" where Apple saves the data in sand box protected apps.

Hence you'll now have an "old" OOTP 21 setup which you installed and ran prior to version 21.0.28 (?) and then a new folder for the newer beta builds and for the release build.

The old bundle identifier was com.ootpdevelopments.ootp21, the new bundle identifier is com.ootpdevelopments.ootp21macqlm.

To fix this and have the game find your files again, you can easily copy the "old" league folders from the old saved games folder into the new saved games folder.

First, open the OOTP 21 saved games folder via the OOTP "Game Settings" dialog -> Troubleshooting tab:

If you maximize the Finder window and scroll a bit to the right, you'll get a Finder window like this:

Click on (1) to get this same view in your Finder.

Click on the appropriate folder in (2), it should be the folder with the trailing "ootp21"

Navigate down to the saved games folder (3, 4....7)

Control-click on a league folder and then on "Copy item"

Click on the target folder in (2), it should be the folder with the trailing "ootp21macqlm"

Navigate down to the saved games folder (3, 4....7)

In the saved games folder, control-click and click on "Paste item"

Then restart and you should be good to go.

Sorry for any trouble or confusion!

I made a thread in the General Discussions post that the game file isn't downloading into the Application Support folder on my Mac (and another user had the same issue). It's going into Containers for some reason...and the game doesn't know how to search for it there.

Can you please look into this ASAP? I can't play the game at the moment and may have inadvertently burned a download trying to rectify the issue myself.

Also, can/should we delete the ootp21 folder and keep the qlm one?

I'm having the same issue ...

I can find my saved game file if I search for it through "Finder," but if I search for it through the OOTP Settings I have a blank "Saved Games" folder other than _read.txt & saved_games.dat.

I found it. I had to grab it off the cloud, save it to my desktop, and then save it into the saved_games folder.

That's because the game is directing you toward the new saved games container, where you don't have anything yet.

I'm following the steps exactly and it doesn't seem to be working. Any other ways to make this work?

I ended up just searching for my league name and when the folder pops up, dragging it to the desktop. Then open up the OOTP21 folder out of Macintosh harddrive and then copying it to there.

Also having issues. I saved the folder onto a flash drive on my Mac. Can't find what I need in it when trying to restore on the Windows PC.

How do you control where the install for this is? I don't want it buried in all these "Container" folders, I want it to install where all my other games were installed. If I move all the folders there, if I try to open the game it does a fresh install of the game back into the "Containers" path.

How do we direct the path to where it was before?

If you go to settings > expert you can set a custom data path there to whatever folder you want.

so does the game look to that folder for everything, from schedule, saved games, fg file, and so on?

I'm holding off on installing any more patches until I'm 100% certain that I'll be able to find my saved games. I started a new league that I have grown to love about a month ago and I don't want to lose everything and have to start from scratch.

Ok I need some serious help!!

In the standalone version, I cannot get to my users folder so that I can point to my normal folder. I have the Steam version pointed to the right folder.

The first 3 screenshots are from my standalone. I hit up on the first screenshot, I go to the 2nd screenshot. When I click [Home], I'm taken to the first screenshot. When I click [File System] then /Users, the 3rd screenshot is shown. That directory should definitely not be blank.

The 4th screenshot shows where my normal folder should be pointed to. The 5th screenshot shows that I can point to it from my steam copy.

What in the world is going on and why did this have to change?

I believe, what you're seeing is the beauty of a "sandbox" secured Apple app. The stand-alone (i.e. FastSpring/QLM) version of the program is running in a sandbox and does not have full access to the files and folders outside of the sandbox. Apple tries to protect your system.
So, what do you want to do? You want to change the /data folder for the stand-alone version? Where do you have your /data? In "Documents"?
