Order of Compensation Picks

How does the game decide which order teams that receive a compensation pick draft in the round?

I'm curious about this in 19, as well.

In MLB, it worked like this for the 2018 draft. The order inside each supplemental round is still determined by reverse order of standings, though:

Quote:
If a team that loses a qualifying free agent is a revenue-sharing recipient, then the team -- if and only if the lost player signs for at least $50 million -- is awarded a compensatory pick between the first round and Competitive Balance Round A. If the player signs for less than $50 million, the compensation pick for the team comes after Competitive Balance Round B
As a result:

Supplemental First Round
31. Rays (compensation for losing Alex Cobb)
32. Rays (compensation for failing to sign 2017 draft pick Drew Rasmussen)
33. Royals (compensation for losing Lorenzo Cain)
34. Royals (compensation for losing Eric Hosmer)
35. Indians (compensation for losing Carlos Santana)

Quote:
If a team that loses a qualifying free agent does not receive revenue sharing and did not exceed the luxury-tax salary threshold the previous season, it is awarded a compensatory pick after Competitive Balance Round B.
As result of that rule:

Supplemental Second Round
75. Cardinals (compensation for losing Lance Lynn)
76. Rockies (compensation for losing Greg Holland)
77. Cubs (compensation for losing Wade Davis)
78. Cubs (compensation for losing Jake Arrieta)

It's...um...quite confusing. See here.

That's more to do with Type A/B free agents. The rules after that are simpler, since picks aren't getting swapped. Signing teams simply lose picks, and other teams gain picks.

The supplemental round picks should be allocated in order of team record.

So that would make sense in our online league up until Washington picks again, before New York's first compensation pick.

The other case is that if you're using type A and type B FA, then we'll give all the type A supplemental picks before the type B ones. And obviously this doesn't count if teams are getting picks for having unsigned players from previous years, which get slotted in regardless of position and are slotted in according to the pick that was not signed (so not signing pick 12 from last year means you get pick 13 this year).

If none of those is the case, then
