Move away from XML for PbP, Allow Reference to Different Files

Brackets are pain incarnate. Consider switching to another ML like YAML that rightfully does away with them. (Doesn't have to be YAML, just using that as an example).

Also, the fact that new versions of the game stomp all over customizations of a relatively simple, user-editable file is bad. Consider having a setting like for uniforms: where different teams and eras can have different PbP files. Having a Harry Caray-alike or a Vin Scully-alike announcing games would be an incredible experience.

Heck, the fanbase will probably do most of the work for you, if you just provide the capability.

Love the game, thanks for making it! <3

I'd echo switching over to using YAML. XML had it's time in the sun, but it's at least ten years out of date, and YAML would be easier to work with for all concerned

I'm not that familiar with YAML, but does it work well with other languages? I know that's the reason so many indie game devs still use XML.

It's just a protocol, depends on the language used and the parsing library (if any) whether a particular ML is 'viable' or not. Most major languages fully support YAML and a host of other MLs. XML's just one of the oldest.

OMG, this is such a good idea. YAML files are insanely easier to use than XML files. I doubt anyone makes these decisions based on what modders want, but...you're right, it would certainly add immersion to the game.
