The head coach of the Bears needs to go back to being a coordinator. Because if you don't know the rules in critical situations, you should not be a head coach in the NFL.

With 1 timeout and 2:02 left in the 4th, the Bears did the one thing they couldn't do, kick it into the landing zone. That brought it to the 2 minute warning. Had they kicked it short, the ball would be brought out to the 40 and no time would have expired.

I thought if the kickoff went out of bounds or short of the landing zone, the receiving team had a choice to either take the field position, or make them rekick. And that's why they tried to kick it through the back of the endzone. But apparantly that's not the case.

I watched a lengthy video on exactly this topic prior to the 2023 season. Teams losing both coordinators happened 6 times before 2023. They went over each case individually, and in every case, it didn't make much of a difference.

It happened to the Eagles after the 2022 season, making it the 7th time. They started off 10-1 then imploded. I don't know the reason for the implosion.

I'll try to find it. But you have to remember, it was a you tube video I watched just before the 2023 season. I think I know what channel posted it.

Thanks. Took him too long to get to the meat, but it did give me food for thought. To make it clear, I wasn't suggesting that the Lions would fall off the earth. Just that things wouldn't run as smoothly. Especially since the NFC is so weak, they have a softer cushion. But I do expect them to be 2 to 3 games worse. We will see.

You're probably right. But I'm pretty sure most teams that have won 15 games have had at least a 3 game drop off the following season.

This is interesting. The Cowboys never willingly extend their first round picks after 3 years. It's always after 4 years. I can't remember the last time the Cowboys did this that did not include a hold out.
