Pinnacle Baseball Association is Looking for More

Full League Name (Initials): Pinnacle Baseball Association (PBA)
Message Board URL: Boards
Website URL: Website
Reports URL: Reports
OOTP Version: OOTP 26
# Of Teams: 30
Exports: Every four days during season. Every other day in Offseason
League Time Per Sim: 7 days
Current Season: 2035 Offseason
Constitution: Constitution
StatsPlus:StatsPlus

The PBA is in Spring Training in 2035, year 18 of a 2017 MLB quickstart. The PBA tries to be as realistic as possible, not taking shortcuts with several things most other leagues don't want to deal with.

  • For example, Scouting is on (High accuracy), coaching is on, drug suspensions are on (suspensions set to very low), injuries are normal, there are overbudget restrictions, and rain outs are on. Scouts create variance in player evaluation, coaches affect development, some players try to bend the rules, some players can't bend their bodies, bosses suck, and sometimes, it rains. These affect baseball in real life, and affect baseball in the PBA.
  • Both leagues use a DH to help mitigate some questionable AI decisions.
  • Ratings are 1-10
  • Draft picks and recently drafted players can be traded.
  • If a team goes more than $5 million over budget, they have two months to get under or face adjustments to their draft and scouting budgets in future years.
  • Five foreign leagues run in the background.
  • There are cosmetic rewards (nicknames, minor league stadium name changes) for those who are active writers in the league
  • Finally, we use Slack to communicate and use StatsPlus to draft and trade.

To allow GMs the experience of taking in the full scope of the league, we sim every four days in-season with a faster offseason.

If you're interested, we have three open teams:

  • Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Atlanta Braves
  • San Diego Padres

The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming off a 73-89 season in a tough NL West. There isn't a ton of talent in the majors, but the team is young, there are good prospects on the roster, and their books are quite clean. Their farm ranks 20th, but it undersells a solid farm system. The budget isn't great, but it's not too bad of a job.

The Atlanta Braves are coming off a 60-102 season as a new owner a few seasons ago cut Atlanta's budget and forced them to wind down a solid team. Their major league roster isn't very good, but they're set up well for the future with a Top 10 farm and clean books after this season. They're not in a bad spot if a GM is looking for a rebuild.

The San Diego Padres went 72-90 last season, but are 3 seasons removed from a World Series trip. There are some young stars on the team, the books are pretty good, and while the market is small, their owner has raised their budget recently. The NL west is pretty rough, but San Diego is well positioned to be competitive with the big budgets in the division.

Sound long running league with minimal turnover

Highly recommend. Erick is a consummate commissioner. I’ve been in the league for the most part of past five years.

We have many long tenured folk beyond me.

San Diego

I would be interested in the Padres.

Full disclosure I was active in leagues of OOTP like over a decade ago and am only just getting back into it so may need a little direction on getting things going.
