NBFL - A Baseball League Modeled After the NFL
In 1920, Jim Thorpe was elected the first president of the American Professional Football Association. Thorpe was intrigued by the format of the new football league, but did not like the sport itself nearly as much as one of the other sports he competed in: baseball. He immediately transitioned the APFA into the NBFL - The National Baseball Football League - a baseball league to rival the MLB that would follow the football league's format of 16 games per season, once a week on Sundays. Although most baseball fans immediately rejected Thorpe's idea, he was able to gain enough support to place 32 teams around the country. The quality of play would not quite live up to the standards of the MLB, since all of the game's best players had decided to stick with the 162 game seasons, but Thorpe hoped that over time his format would gain popularity and some of the game's best would switch leagues. Thorpe knew this was a big risk - he could have easily continued the APFA format with the sport it was intended for, and he knew that a football league could have been hugely popular in America, but instead, Thorpe chose to follow his passion: baseball.

Inaugural Draft (1/3/1920)
The NBFL's 84 round inaugural draft, where all 32 teams drafted their entire rosters from a large pool of players, was held today.
With the first overall pick, the Nashville Mean Green selected 26 year old LF Pat Shelton. Shelton was given a 5 star rating by the OSA, and is known for his great speed and contact hitting. With the second overall pick, the Charlotte Rampage drafted 25 year old SS Robert Applegarth. The OSA rated Applegarth 4.5 stars, his best tools being his contact hitting, his speed, and his fielding. With the third pick in the draft, the San Diego Warlocks chose 27 year old LF Grady Williams. Williams was rated at 4.5 stars by the OSA, but they also noted that he has the potential to grow into a 5 star player. He is most known for his ability to play the corner infield and all of the outfield positions, as well as his outstanding contact hitting. With the fourth pick, the Fremont Whales selected 30 year old RF Pedro González. The OSA gave him a 5 star rating, especially noting his skills in baserunning and hitting for contact. With the firth overall draft pick, the Boston Jackalopes picked 31 year old 2B Bartolo Vega. Vega was given a 5 star rating by the OSA, and his best tools are his speed, contact hitting, and his plate discipline. Interestingly enough, even though Vega's preferred position is second base, the OSA reports that he is more skilled at third base. ----------------------- It is very interesting that there were no pitchers drafted in the top 5, or even the top ten. The first pitcher, Kenny Barrett, was not selected by the Denver Barracudas until the 12th pick. The league-norm is a one man rotation, with very low usage of relievers, so the starting pitcher can almost be seen like the quarterback. I would have predicted that teams would have prioritized this position more than they did. Overall, only 5 teams drafted pitchers in the first round. There are some NFL styled schedules in the mods already. Might save you the hassle. With OOTP, you'll have to manually schedule the playoffs to keep the games on Sundays.

Link to NYY #23 dynasty for NFL
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post3691832
NYY #23 had a similar dynasty not long ago and created a number of years worth of schedules. This should save you the time of having to create them yourself. You can also get to the link through the MODS Schedule list. Just look for 32 team schedules and you'll find the link.

Pretty intriguing idea for a league. I would suggest ramping up the offensive stats a bit though just to get more football-like scores in the games.
