Now That is a Rough Day

Joe Trombley took the hill for the Phoenix Bluebirds in the 2nd game of the season. Here’s how his outing went.

HBP
Single
GIDP
4 pitch walk
4 pitch walk
Grand Slam
Solo HR
K

He comes out to pitch the 2nd inning.
Single
Double.

He leaves the game with runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. The reliever gets the first 2 batters to ground out, each driving in a run.

Trombley’s line for the day.

1 inning, 5 Hits, 7 Earned Runs, 2 Walks, 1 Strikeout, 2 Home Runs, 1 Hit Batsman on 38 pitches.

He has an ERA of 63.00, a WHIP of 7.00, and an ERA+ of 5.

There’s nowhere to go but up from there.

Then, as Joe left the ballpark, his face still wet from all the tears he had cried, he found his car had been stolen from the parking lot. Joe looked skywards in despair, to cry his existential crisis into the disinterested evening sky, to shout with arms extended, in horror, to shout why, why, why him!? Right at that moment, a pigeon flew overhead with a desperate urge to relieve himself -

And on the other end of the stick, pitch 10 innings of 3 hit ball on opening day, only to see your team lose when the other guy pitches almost as good as you.
