Playing without 40-man roster
One of my frustrations with the AI is the fact it puts people on waivers that would never be put there in real life. Has anyone tried playing with the 40-man turned off, but full minor leagues?

That's perfectly viable IMO. I often do things like that, or turn off the rule 5 draft.
Not because it gives me or the AI an edge, but because those things are too much of a hassle for being such a relatively small part of the game. I just like developing players and having a sandbox feel. |

If the issue is that too many decent players are being put on waivers, I would suggest turning off the Minor League Options rule and leaving the 40-man roster on. I've found that it's the Minor League Options rule that confounds the AI more than anything else, and so I've played with that off for quite a few versions now.
Of course, turning off the 40-man roster would work, too, it's your call. |

I have enlarged the 40 man and 25 man rosters also. I tend to have larger roster sizes in the Minors so I do not have to play MiLB DL manager. I am not much of a solo player, I have been happy with the results but my solo experience is pretty limited.
Good luck, Tom (LP)

Have you noted any changes that it would be nice to know about when doing this? I play as manager-only, with a good GM, so am basically looking for a way to avoid the game putting people like Aaron Hicks, Jake Diekman, etc. on waivers for no reason that would ever appear IRL. |

I've noticed no changes besides there being far fewer players on waivers overall. So fair warning there, if you enjoy scouring the waiver wire, you won't get many finds. But if you're playing manager only, it shouldn't bother you.

Yep, that’s not a problem for me and may help overcome the issue. Thanks for the advice.
