Park factors
How important are they in game? If they are important could someone explain to me what player types I should be looking for whether it's a pitchers park or a hitters park?

if playining in a home run park, you want a ground ball pitcher and players that can hit the long ball. In a pitchers park (few home runs, etc) probably want high contact speedy players. If park favors left hand hitters (short right field wall) you probably want left hand pitchers to encourage other team to use right hand batters and of course you want some good lefty batters on your team.

also, consider that if you have an unusual park and you tailor a team for that park.. how much are you hurt by the ~average of the parks you will see in the other 81 games... only when it's a net positive is it a good thing.
talent can easily trump scheme, too. relative to the mlb stadiums, i'd wager most if not all are good to conform to in some way, while not overweighting its net effect (just a guess, though). |
