I'm taking another break here in 1925 because the aging thing is bugging me - I believe players are cratering much too fast in their early 30s (basically 29/30 years old) and I'm trying to figure out how to prove this. I haven't found a great way to look at the data and I even ran a test with 0.5 aging for batters but didn't see a shift in the aging curves I was looking at. It is also possible that skills are distributed differently in a feeder league - it seems to be more of a perfect bell curve instead of a heavily skewed talent curve like real life. There are no 3,000 hit club members, no 500 HR hitters - even when simulating up to the present day. I'm trying to find any setting to tweak this a bit.

I'm still trying to figure this out and I'm not sure how the aging number changes things. I set aging to 0.5 for hitters and ran a test which did create a few 3,000 hit players that I hadn't seen before. However, I can't tell a difference on the overall change around the league.
Here's a chart of the number of players at each age in my current league, in the test league, and in the MLB in 1925. I slightly increased development rate and that looks to have done something, but the aging looks the same or worse. |

After running 3 different tests, I'm going with these new settings for aging and development. I'll have to feel it out to see if it's too extreme, but the aging just doesn't seem to really do to much.

1926 Draft Top 100
This is a pitching-heavy draft - the top two prospects are both college starting pitchers with Michael O'Shea out of BYU at the top. Hiroto Okada (back in the draft after failing to sign in 1923 out of high school) is the top college hitter and Zane Rivera is the top high school bat. |
