FHM3 will not run at all

Every time I attempt to run FHM3, it shuts down before even entering the main screen of the game.
Can anyone please help?

The first thing I would try would be reinstalling - either re-download the game (if it's the eSellerate version) and run the installer again, or, if you're using Steam, right-click on it in your library, select Properties, then go to the Local Files tab and choose "Verify Integrity of Game Cache." If something went wrong with the initial installation, that should fix it. If it's still happening after that, we'll have to check a few more possibilities (I assume your system meets all the requirements, particularly the display size?)

Hi Jeff- unfortunately I've tried all of the above and the game still is not working. You bet, my system does satisfy all of the game requirements.

There's an outside chance it could be something with the settings.dat file that handles the initial default settings - a problem with that can look similar to what you're setting. Assuming you're on Windows, if you go to

C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 3\config

and delete the settings.dat and workshop_items_(long number here).dat files you find there, it'll re-create valid versions when you restart the game.

If that doesn't work, a trace file might give us an idea of what's going wrong - normally that'd have to be enabled in the start menu, but since you can't get that far, you can turn it on by right-clicking the game shortcut, selecting properties, and then change the target line from:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 3\fhm3.exe"

to:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 3\fhm3.exe" tracemode usesoftwareopengl

Then, start again, and after the crash, go to:

C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 3\debug

You'll see a file named fhm_trace.txt - open that, copy the contents, and past them into a post here.

Crash Issue for Mac

I am on a Mac and I am having the same issue launching the game. It won't load at all. I have uninstalled/reinstalled and verified the integrity of the game files.

My graphics card is an Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB. Is this the issue? I meet all other system requirements, but I'm not sure about the graphics card.

I tried to find something like what you described above:

"delete the settings.dat and workshop_items_(long number here).dat files you find there, it'll re-create valid versions when you restart the game."

I wasn't able to find a file with this name. Can you give me some guidance on how to fix this for a Mac? Thanks!

The graphics card should be fine. Despite it not loading, you may be able to get a trace file that could give us a clue about what's going on - in your Steam library, right-click on FHM3, select properties, and then "Set Launch Options..."; that'll open up a window, in it type "tracemode" (without quotes.)

Then, start the game again, and after it fails to load check in the \debug folder for the fhm_trace.txt file, and post the contents of that file here.
