Some quick ratings questions--which do not detract from my over-all glee at this project--are as follows:

How do you justify ranking Wieters and Cruz so high? Not only do they lack track records, neither of them even had that great of a 2009.

From what negative rating do Hudson's low overall and potential rating come from?

Would you like any help with this or the next roster update? I have an excess of baseball knowledge and not enough stuff to do.

Thanks,
D

One important note :

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the overall rating is totally useless. Just a mix of hitting/running/defense/comparison to other players at the same position.

Don't freak out over A-Rod being at 76, look at his power instead. From years of experience using Cubby's roster, the overall is irrelevant. Anyway, there is still a variation in stats output... some highly rated players WILL yield crappy season (.250/.320/.420) and some lowbies will get decent seasons.

I think we should hold the critics towards the ratings and roster set in general until we see some stats output after using them.

One point though, I tend to agree that some young kids, even though highly touted, are a little too optimistic in their ratings, Wieters being the prime example after he belted 56 homeruns last year in our league.

Keep up the good work Cubby, can't wait to see the final result.

Back from Florida! I am glad to report that it is still there, the weather is outstanding, and I did not think about OOTP for one second.

Rosters are going into overdrive this week and will be out this weekend.

Yeah... I'm just saying I consider A-Rod better than David Wright and Dustin Pedroia among a few others.

Keep in mind that ratings are compared to positions. You could only really compare ARod and Wright, and I'm not sure the gap is anything at all if Wright bounces back to the 15-25 HR level with outstanding defense.

Since Pedroia is a 2B, his rating is compared to other 2B.

Features as I think of them:
  • Updated ratings for the 2010 season including fielding based on UZR and other fielding metrics (love me some UZR, but it can be a bit biased), hitting numbers based on projection systems
  • Top 30 prospects and top 100 league prospects, rated in proper BA order, with full scouting reports
  • Completely accurate pitch speed and types for pitchers who have pitched at least one inning in MLB
  • Edited personality ratings for any active player who has played a game in MLB
  • Edited injury ratings for any active player who has played a game in MLB
  • Stadiums including dimensions, capacity and park effects for any ballpark in major or minor league baseball
  • Full coaching staffs for major and minor league teams
  • Accurate uniform numbers for MLB rosters
  • Accurate rosters/players at the proper levels to start for minor league teams as of the end of 2009/start of 2010

This will be the second release:
  • Every minor leaguer fully rated for fielding, hitting, pitching (and pitch types as I have scouting reports for them, if they were in a BA top 30 group in the last 5 years, I have them) --- most of them have already been done, but for guys who played their first year and weren't in a top 30 this year, will have rough ratings until I hit this in the next few weeks after release
  • Draft pool for the 2010 class --- in my sim league, we added around 300-400 2009 draft prospects. Planning on doing the same for the file.

Incredible

Your efforts are incredible, and much appreciated.-----of course if the WhiteSox ratings are not extremely high I'll have to "Squeal like a stuck pig" (especially their minor league players---so I can have hope for the future as I play ).
Thanks Much,

You'll be happy to know that behind Beckham, Mitchell, Flowers and Hudson, the White Sox future looks pretty bright.

Cubby, what are you doing for the Twins international sigings. BA rates both Kepler and Sano very aggressively, but both are sixteen. I mean how are you going to balance upside with risk...

Both will have tremendous upside (especially Sano) in the set, but will be rated very raw in terms of present ratings. I figure there's a pretty good chance with OOTP's engine that they will either flame out and never hit the show, or end up as superstars (much like real life).

Did BA ever release where the international signings fell into their rankings? I have the book, so I didn't see where Chapman, etc. landed on the top 30.

Is this roster designed to work with all versions of ootp 10 or just the most recent (10.413)?

Speedy,
It seems like every post of yours I read is asking the same thing. Take it from me, although OOTP X is significantly better (stability wise) I would highly recommend you play the mod on whatever version of the game the mod was built off. The game still has a tendency to do goofy things (or not do goofy things) after each patch, and I'd doubt a mod of this magnitude would even run on a version not significantly patched.

BA didn't put Chapman in their Top 100, but said he would have been in Top 15 territory.

Cubby, great work! Will this only work for 10 or will it translate over to 11 easily? I've never used a roster set before?

Will be publishing a roster set for both versions, although it will translate to 11 without a hitch if you want to just do it yourself.

Do you do anything with the manager, coach and scout ratings?

Just wondering, as its a bit subjective who is a good or bad coach and manager so is there anything out there that rates them
