I think it'll be hard to find a screenshot of the first version. Being DOS, I'm not sure if ctrl-print screen will work. Besides, how can one paste it somewhere? I'm not sure if WinXP has a DOS emulator anymore.

The early games have such a classic appeal.

For a first version DOS screen those version 1 screenshots are really quite impressive.

Wow...some memories. Me personally, I started with Version 2, and played every version until OOTP 6. Not sure why, but by then, I was burnt out with the game. Probably had to do with XBox and another kid. With those 2, plus the wife, well, OOTP didn't make the cut.

However, this version has definetly brought me back. The historical part of this version blows me away. Never thought the game from Version 2 to now would evolve like this...Nice job Markus and company!!

I remember how blown away I found OOTP, in its 3rd version. Until then, I had to get my baseball sim fix from Earl Weaver baseball.

It's gone from "They should put XXXXXXXX in the next version," to "Uh....I can't think of anything else they could put in this game!"

Very nice synopsis, sporr!

Just to add that OOTP 3 came out as Season Ticket Baseball as well, as that was the first edition of OOTP I played (produced by the fine folks at Infogrames!)

I'll be curious to see the progression of importing OOTP2 to OOTP3 and so on until 2007.

Somehow I think even when version 12 comes out, and it walks your dog and does your laundry, people will still be clamoring for more features...

and of course a "real" roster set...

One of the very few (I assume) Japanese OOTP fans here!

Thanks for the great thread, sporr!
I am very new here (found 2006 version last year, bought 2007, so happy and just can not live one day without this game since then.)

Great game, great community!

I first owned OOTP2...but really fell in love with OOTP3. I owned 2, 3, 5, 2006 and now 2007..."what a long, strange trip it's been"

I started in the baseball-sim world at age 13 with Season Ticket Baseball. I then played Baseball Mogul for a few years, which I though was awesome. But when I saw OOTP 2006, I never looked back at BBM. Bought this year's and I plan to buy next year's too! Keep up the awesome work!!!

I started with the original, which was pretty raw and had some other significant issues which I won't mention, but we oldtimers will remember. I remember on that original bulletin board Markus requesting ideas to improve the game. At the time, I was playing APBA Broadcast Blast alot, and toying with OOTP here and there. The thing I liked best about APBA was the ability to import past seasons from the Bill James Electronic Encyclopedia and play out the seasons. So, I threw out how nice it would be to import a past season, but then have the game proceed in career mode with player development and add the rookies as they arrived on the scene. APBA was just a one season replay, no career mode. Markus pulled it off, OOTP was the first to try historical career mode and it keeps getting better.

I'm in a 6.51 league and a 2007 league right now, but have little time for solo play anymore, unfortunately.

The game has come a long way, kudos Markus!

That's awesome. It's always nice to see the history of the games that we play. Personally, I've only been playing since OOTP10 but have always been interested in the OOTP6 that my brother used to play back then. Awesome.

I remember when I first started playing OOTP, back in 2003. I think it was OOTP3 or something haha. It's nuts how far this game has come over the years, and im glad to say I've been an active GM for every version
