RFA compensation missing

Playing through and finishing a first season. The sim is a good time, thanks to those who made it.

However where is the RFA compensation ?

NHL teams signed a few key RFA players from my roster so I thought "sure let them sign, I can match or get compensation."

I got neither.

I couldn't match nor did I receive compensation. So much for my "rebuild"

Am I doing something wrong or is the sim broken in this regard ?

Average annual value Compensation

Less than $1,205,377 Nothing

$1,205,377-to-$1,826,328 Third-round pick

$1,826,328-to-$3,652,659 Second-round pick

$3,652,659-to-$5,478,986 First and third-round picks

$5,478,986-to-$7,305,316 First, second and third-round picks

$7,305,316-to-$9,131,645 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks

$9,131,645 or greater Four first-round picks

Did you make a qualifying offer before they went to free agency? If not, that turned them into unrestricted free agents instead of restricted ones, and you wouldn't have received any compensation.

yes I believe I did, however I can't say for certain.

I clicked on the "meet demand" option for every player just because I didn't want to do the math and get the unhappy response for a lowball offer

live an learn right ?

I will try again

Yeah, if you didn't actually submit the offer that would've done it. Generally, if the player's asking for something really unreasonable, it's best to wait until the last minute and then throw the lowball qualifying offer in when you're sure he's not going to sign. That'll break off negotiations for a while, but ensures you get paid if someone else offer sheets him. The alternative, if you're really sure you can sign him on or shortly after July 1, is to let him go without qualifying him so you can continue negotiating right away after he turns UFA, but that's a big gamble.

ok back and very confused

I submitted bids. The players still signed elsewhere and I did not get compensation.

We know bids are submitted because when I clicked on the player the "Remove offer" was a valid option.

Further I tried to see if i was doing something wrong so I did a different flavor of offers.

offer 1 was during the regular season
offer 2 was after the season and before free agency began
offer 3 was during free agency

In all 3 cases I lost the player and didn't get any compensation.

flumoxed and kind of frustrated

what am I doing wrong ?

I am not saying the RFA MUST sign with my club but at least the team should get the proper compensation

Are you sure you actually submitted the offer? Because in similar situations I can't physically push the "submit offer" button as the player won't accept negotiating a low offer

maybe I should try and detail it more clearly.

The team has RFAs.

I right click on the pending free agent link

Renew contract
Remove offer

clock on renew contract

player sheet with the asking price

We can click on the action menu
Meet demand
Ask for response
Submit offer

If I click meet demand is that enough ?
Or must I also click submit offer as well ?

I have been only clicking on the meet demand

is that what is causing my troubles ?

I think yes, you need to click "submit offer". But can you do it? I'm not sure you can if the player is not willing to accept, therefore you're going to lose the rights on him as you didn't tend them a qualifying offer.
I think a simple hot button "qualify player" would make the trick.

In this case yes I can

I am choosing a negotiator tweak as GM and agreeing to the player demands on the contract.

Thanks Alessandro

It sounds like you're doing it correctly. Could you upload the save (instructions here) and I'll have a look at it and see if I can figure out exactly what's going on?
