Goalie Starts

I'm trying to get my Goalie Starts set up correctly, but I'm not having much luck. Here's what I have at the moment...



What I'd like is for Murray to always start, except for back-to-back games or where Grubauer gets a shutout. I've given those items equal ratings yet Grubauer has only started once in 28 games despite us having 5 back-to-backs so far.



What am I missing?

The 4 in hottest goalie is probably the main factor. If Murray gets a little bit hot and Grubauer stays cold, that's going to be enough to override, or at least neutralize, the back-to-back setting.

Ah, ok—so that setting takes precedent over the others?

Murray currently is hot (5) and Grubauer cold (1) so that makes sense. Should I drop that to a 3 then to give the back-to-back setting a higher weighting?

Not really precedent, it's just weighted heavily enough that a 4 there will negate a 4 on starting back-to-back under the right circumstances. I'd keep it around 2, but you can also shift it depending on circumstances - if Murray's hot right now and Grubauer's not getting any starts, you can drop it to 0 for a week or two if you're simming ahead in blocks like that.

Edit: and increasing best-rested to 3 or 4 will help as well - that's not weighted that heavily, so it won't overwhelm the other choices, but it'll boost the goalie who didn't play the first game of the back-to-back a little more.

It appears that even in commissioner mode, one cannot change the goalie start settings for an AI-controlled team. Is that right?

Running "AI Setup Organization" on their roster screen will get the AI to re-evaluate and possibly adjust its settings, but you can't make specific setting changes.
