Disappointed
I just bought FHM4 and after a quick overview I was unable to generate schedules to change the rules the games has nothing to do with ootp 18 I'm disappointed I continue my exploration.

Are you trying to set up a custom league? You need to have "Custom" selected in "Select a Structure" to get the options for your own schedule/league alignment.

if I want to replay the season 1917-18, unable to create the structure of the time, with the players of that time, change the rules, make a new calendar, with a new format series ect....

No, historical mode is limited to the actual structure used in that year. We want to add the ability to use different formats eventually, but it's not possible yet.

If it's limited to the actual structure of 1917-18 how is that disappointing to fans of a historical game?

As is often explained, this is not OOTP with sticks and pucks. Also OOTP is on version 18, this is version 4. Only by people supporting the franchise was OOTP able to develop to the level it is now, with all the customization it has.
This game has grown a lot in just its 4th iteration. History now goes back to the beginning of NHL, AI is improved and features have been added. Sure not everything that everyone wants is in it. That will take time. |

There are limitations in Fictional mode that make me shy away so I tend to remain in modern day and venture off to historical once in a while. It's definitely fair to say that FHM doesn't compare to OOTP in terms of customization. In fact, there really isn't a single text based sports sim game out there that does for that matter.
Modern Day in FHM receives the most attention for the time being. Luckily there is such a vast variance in rules and regulations in hockey worldwide that have been implemented in and continue to be tweaked. As the game continues to progress each year, I don't think its a stretch to say that one day those options may progressively become available in fictional as well. With the addition this this year of more diverse scheduling and playoff options it shows that the development team will continue to focus on all modes.
