Catcher Defense Question
Is it worthwhile to pay attention to a catcher's defensive stats instead of only focusing on defensive ratings? Do defensive measurements like ZR and EFF matter a lot less for catchers? How important is RTO% or PB? For RTO%, does it factor in the 2B's defensive ratings too? Thanks

It depends on how much time you want to devote to the matter. Remember one thing: Ratings are just a shortcut. Meaning, the best way to evaluate a player, at least his past and current performance, is by statistics. Hopefully, ratings closely correlate with statistics (if not, get a new scout).
That said, I would venture to guess that most of us depend more on a catcher's defensive ratings than on analysis of statistics like ZR and EFF. Some of us don't want to spend the time and some of us don't understand these stats, anyway. I belong to both groups. Still, I will never deny the efficacy and authenticity of playing this game according to stats (a.k.a. "Stats Only mode"). I will pay attention to PB and RTO% (because I do understand those). However, when evaluating talent, I am usually looking for the green and blue bars first, then glancing at statistics.
