Newb Question about MLB quickstart

I just finished my whole 2013 season with an MLB quick start, I built up my team perfectly throughout the season and then the offseason came but nothing happened such as the rule 5 draft, free agents, winter meetings, etc... Is this just a one year and done thing? Do I have to do a custom game to do multiple seasons?? Thanks.

Check your settings. Check your news. I have taken some yealry quickstarts and played 25+ years into the future.

So I can do multiple years with MLB players and prospects from the MLB quick start option? Is there a way to do it from the Custom game option??

No, the custom game last year is 2012. Your not using the iPad version are you?

Are you asking if you can sim multiple years into the future? (This answer is yes)
or
Are you asking if you can use the quick start and start from multiple years.. like 1998 or 2011 or 2012? (no, 2012 is the season that comes with the game.)

I have the full pc version. I finished a full season with the cubs from QuickStart with MLB rosters, I drafted, signed international free agents but when I didn't make the playoffs I simmed until end of playoffs and it went through into April 2014 with no arbitration, rule 5 draft, free agent signings, etc. no games were scheduled for 2014 it just kept simming, is that normal?

It sounds like you "Simmed to end of OffSeason" or "To Start of Spring Training".
If you have the AI set to manage a number of tasks that might explain the non stop simming.
No, that should not happen.
What happened with Arbitration and free agency? Did the AI make offers and sign players or was your team just absent from participating?
You can check your transactions from your Team Menu.

In your manager options there are check boxes for when the game is to stop simming. If you have these unchecked the game will just keep on rolling.

yeah after I didn't make the playoffs I hit sin until end of playoffs and it took me all the way through halfway of April, all the free agents were still there like nothing happened in the offseason, and there was no schedule for the 2014 season.
