custom game is terrible
I own all FHM2 through to 6 and still the custom game is terrible. It is the setup that is the issue and something that can be easily fixed. It is clear it has never been play tested.
I am basing this of the custom defaults (NHL, AHL with Junior league). and base setting. First off some basic bugs. - If you sim a season with do not disturb ticked, it will not activate the draft. So no draft while this button is ticked. - If you start unemployed, you might be hired without asking. I was many times. - Reason I know it wasn't play tested is that you can;t play it without using the above options. You can't reach the cap floor with the player given. This leads to the main issue of the basic NHL custom game. When the game starts and everyone selects players, there are so many crap players that not one team reaches the cap floor set by default. By the second season, since I lowered the cap floor and played. I got lots of picks .. my 7. and picked and better 5 star roster. That year my new 5 star 18 year old was the top goal scorer with over 60 goals. 10 more than anyone else. By season 3 he was on the 3rd line as I had better players through the draft (in high draft rounds). Basically not a game at all. There is no way to sign these players after their entry level deals as salary is based of skill level and not performance based. So with everyone having 4-5 star rosters, now no one can afford the cap. How can't the talent level not be as a bell shaped curve. Why not give the player the option to tweak things like this. IT's so frustrating having a game with so many game style options but only one really works.

I am a custom game player myself, so that feature is important to me, but I also can't figure out half of what you're talking about. I know it can use more improvements from the other modes and those will come in time, it just isn't as popular a mode as modern so more focus goes there. Some of us do try and test things there, but we don't catch everything given the variety of combinations

I haven't so far started up a custom league for FHM6 but if I do I might just take the current NHL and turn it outside down and move 4 or 5 players from team to team and use the ECHL as the old International Hockey League and try to make it on par with the current AHL.
