OOTP 16 - Access Denied after changing the Database files and then trying to save
I still play OOTP 16 and wanted to create a custom region and after I added the region, I went to save it and it said Access Denied. I am using Notepad to edit the database_files.tar
I successfully had the region added, before I did the latest update. Then it disappeared after the update. I should have left it alone, lol |

Well I was able to save it, but the game won't show the changes made. I have closed the game and opened the folder to double check the data change, but the game is being stubborn, lol.

It's like the game totally ignored the changes I made, I even made the same changes to OOTP 15 to see if it would work. Nadda!

The file that you are talking about is an archive file (.tar) that is stored in the game's PROGRAM folders. You should not be editing the files in that archive; what the game does is install those files in your GAME folders. If you are going to edit anything, you should be editing those installed copies. In Windows, they can be found in \Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 16\database. That is where the files used by the game to run your league are stored.

My pleasure. The good news is, now that you located that archive file, you know where to go to get fresh, default copies of the files therein should you need to start over. Just drag the ones you want out of that .tar file and copy them over the ones in your installed game's \database folder.
