Leadoff Guy 7 RBIs
I took jaysdailydose's United States Baseball quickstart for OOTP14 and imported it into 16, playing out every game in pitch by pitch mode. I took over the Maryland Knights, did the inaugural draft, and simmed to Opening Day, and since have made it through about 2 weeks. The player in question (Justin Morse) is a glove first guy who is not supposed to be that great of a hitter. He started the year as my 8 hitter, but since has become my leadoff guy after a great start to the year.
As a leadoff guy against a not-so-good Maine team, he drove in 7 runs with 2 bombs. As a leadoff guy. This game... Last edited by IsaacR; 05-31-2015 at 10:21 PM. |

How are you enjoying the league, Isaac?
Let me know if you run into any issues with the quickstart. I haven't had time to bring it into 16 myself (did you happen to save a fresh copy?) and just want to keep abreast of if it runs into any issues. Thanks again for using my creation, and I hope it is bringing you fun!

I agree they can surprise you but I have learned over the years they more often than not only be good for maybe 3 to 5 years then poof they done. Sometimes slow downward sometimes one season and toast. That guys defense to me is what would keep him in the bigs for a season or two until finding somebody better

deja vu
Reminds me of Tuffy Rhodes. Leadoff guy, 3 homers off Doc Gooden, opening day 1994.

Isaac,
Did you save the initial start when you imported the league into OOTP 16 as a quickstart by chance? I had a couple of people IM me asking if I planned on bringing it up to 16 myself, and was wondering if you had the starting save yourself? If you did, it would save me a bit of time. Thanks, pal. (Not sure if you noticed in my post above when I asked if you saved a copy!)

In case you're wondering, since this game I've played 6 more... and Morse has 1 hit total in those 6.

Naw, you don't have to do all that. Thanks, though.

As Joe Maddon likes to say, the leadoff batter only leads off once a game, the rest of the time, it does not matter.
As for Karl "Tuffy" Rhodes, he was a power hitter that the Cubs thought was a lead off hitter. He was just big in Japan. Tuffy Rhodes Japanese League Statistics & History | Baseball-Reference.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl6u2NASUzU |

2 subleagues of 24 teams in 4 six team divisions. Only division winners make the postseason. So you still have a divisional series, an LCS and a World Series, but only division winners get to the dance.

There is a state team for every US State except for Alaska and Hawaii that get "baseball academy" feeders.

One more RBI and he would have tied the leadoff-spot record.
It's worth noting, however, that every 7+ RBI leadoff man in major league history has had either a DH, a ninth inning, or a notorious hitter park (Polo Grounds/Coors Field) to take advantage of. Morse is doing this in a no-DH league at home, which means no ninth inning. |
