Still never had an "offical" no-hitter in a non-simmed game, but...

Decided to play a 2014 MLB game as the Dodgers, opening day Grienke pitches a 1 hit shutout, but I've had plenty of those, so that isn't why I'm making this post. No, How about Hyun-Jin Ryu in his second start:

Slight asterisk being that OOTP does class this as a no hitter for the purposes of the achievement and the news story, but I don't think MLB does in real life any more.

Cryo, thanks for that last line. I was doing one of these until you made it obvious:

Well, how do you like that? Is this game great or what, to be able to come up with this unique result?

Thanks for sharing your game!

EDIT: One of those games caught my eye. How do you no-hit somebody and LOSE by a score of 4-0? Well, five walks and three errors tell the story:

Retrosheet Boxscore: Chicago White Sox 4, New York Yankees 0

EDIT 2: As a matter of fact, the White Sox scored all four runs in the eighth inning, as follows:
Quote:
WHITE SOX 8TH: Karkovice popped to second; Fletcher popped to
second; Sosa reached on an error by Blowers; Sosa stole second;
Guillen walked; Johnson walked [Sosa to third, Guillen to
second]; Ventura reached on an error by Leyritz [Sosa scored
(unearned) (no RBI), Guillen scored (unearned) (no RBI), Johnson
scored (unearned) (no RBI), Ventura to second]; Calderon reached
on an error by Barfield [Ventura scored (unearned), Calderon to
second]; Pasqua popped to shortstop; 4 R (0 ER), 0 H, 3 E, 1
LOB. Yankees 0, White Sox 4.
That must have been some heck of a bad play by Leyritz!

... I just cannot imagined how that would feel to be on the losing end of no hitting the other team

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but what is that logo set? Those are very clean logos. I like them a lot.

Those look to be the work of Capt. Walrus, part of his MLB Circular Logos collection available on OOTPMODS.COM. I just pulled these two out of the pack; they seem to match:

Awesome thank you! Now how would I go about installing them, seeing as they are not in add-ons central...?

Unzip them into this folder:

\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 15\logos

and the game should pick them up automatically the next time you start it. Otherwise, you can manually load them in Team Menu, Team Settings, Modify Team Colors, Logos, and Textures. Under Team Logo, click Load and navigate to the folder shown above, then pick the appropriate logo.

Well, compared to that, Ryu in my game having 3 walks and 3 hit batters sounds positively great pitching...

And as for the logo set, I can't remember, but it does seem to be the one mentioned. The caveat being that the files for teams with two word names (eg "Los Angeles" and "San Diego", plus "Red Sox", etc) need to be renamed to put an _ in them instead of them being rendered as one word (i/e change "LosAngeles_Dodgers" to "Los_Angeles_Dodgers" in the file name else OOTP wont recognise them automatically)

Happened the same thing to me against the Royals, except we benefited from the win!

Great stuff, thanks. What in the heck did we ever do before the Internet?

Yep, Leyritz (catcher by trade but in LF that day) sure butchered that play!

Some more noteworthiness in that video:
  • Going into the game, Hawkins had a 1-4 record and a 6.49 ERA.
  • 20 seconds into that video, Leyritz makes a good play in LF!
  • What a gift the scorer gives Hawkins on scoring that hard smash to 3B as an error at 2:15.
  • It was great to hear Phil Rizzuto again, especially when he reacts to Leyritz's gaffe. "Ooooooooohhhhh, he dropped the ball! You could see trouble all the way." Phil always wore his Yankees heart on his sleeve.
  • Even better, we get a "Holy Cow!" out of him when Barfield made his error in RF at 3:32. Great stuff.
  • Do I detect Tom Seaver's voice in there, toward the beginning? I just looked him up; he was broadcasting Yankees games that season for WPIX.
Cryo, I'm sorry I sidetracked this thread. It has been fun, though, so thanks!

That is nothing what my fictional team doesn't cock up at least once every other week. Them Yankees got to fail much harder than that to make me sweat.

Nah, that's fine. It was cool to see that video of highlights of Hawkins no hitter.

As I said in the OP, MLB doesn't consider this (or Hawkins') a no hitter these days, so maybe OOTP should reflect that.
