Quick (hopefully) question on League Totals
First off, I am at work and cannot download the manual, so it may be in there...
How do the League Totals (and modifiers) in the League Setup -> Strategy Tab actually work? It is not intuitive and I am getting confused. I'm trying to fix my setup so that I don't have (after just 30 seasons) Career leader in HRs at 940, 8 guys over 700 HRs, 6+ guys per season over 50 HRs, and 60 guys over 500 HRs for their careers. Ironically, the pitching numbers are also skewed... 42 no-hitters and 6 perfect games. League ERA the first year was apprx. 4.10 (perfectly acceptable) but every year since (maybe one or two years where it dipped), it has slowly climbed to 5.02. I have 5 minors and 4 feeders set up, and all the leagues are using SkyDog's v. 1.0 setup which I tweaked (lowered the League Total of HR) after year 15. Which brings me back to my original question... How do the League Totals (and modifiers) actually work? I really want a league that I understand HOW I am controlling the numbers. Thanks in advance. |

want more of something, use > 1.000 in the league total modifier box (1.100 will increase by 10%).
want less of something, use < 1.000 in the league total modifier box (.900 will decrease by 10%).

But what do those seemingly random numbers represent?
AB 160000 HR 4104 Triples 1002 or whatever they are... Does changing them affect the league averages on these stats, and if so, how? |

if you wish to change league stats by using those numbers, INCREASE the number (4104 >>> 4507) to DECREASE the stats, but i suggest you use the modifiers instead. IMO, they are much easier to use.

A follow-up question to this thread:
Do league totals consider the number of teams? For example, I have started a very simple 4-team league. The totals, however, remain the OOTP standard ... I'm noticing I'm getting a lot of walks, for example. If there is no automatic consideration of # of teams in a league, does that mean I have to manually manipulate the league totals every time I expand my league? And, if so, how many teams are the standard OOTP league total set for? 30? Thanks! cbbl |

Actually, disposableheros said that they were ratios... How that works, I'm not sure, but his use of the word would indicate to me that they are not dependent on the number of teams in the league. Just my two cents...

So whether you have a 4-team or 48-team league, you shouldn't have to change anything. |

Yea if the league totals work the same as in past versions (and I'm pretty sure they do), it's just the ratio that matters.

League modifiers work directly, league totals work inversely, so by lowering the home run total you increased the number of homers hit in your league. Follow disposable's advice.
