World War two time off

I am replaying the nhl history, just playing the commissioner mode,
I just make sure that the players are on the same team for the actual
nhl season

During the 1940's, a lot players did not play during the war years

example, Milt Schmidt did not play for 3 years in the nhl, than rejoining

It it better, do make Milt injured for the entire year is his idle or
just let him play in the minors till he comes back to the nhl

Just wondering if either we effect his potential when he comes back from the war

Probably better to just assign him to the minors, that'll have less of an effect on his development than keeping him out injured for years.

I'm hoping to have a better way of handling that in FHM6.

I have found that the best way to do a historical replay is to simply start a new game for each season you want to play...play until the Stanley Cup. Then start a new game for the next season....the only bad thing about this method is the need to use third party software to track yearly stats, but you get relatively accurate results and don't have to worry about players falling through the cracks and accumulating stats with teams they didn't actually play for IRL. I will confess I haven't played any seasons during the WWII years, so I'm not sure if the players who left teams to join the military are actually on rosters using this method or not.
