Using the MLB quickstart roster in another league
I'd like to use the packaged MLB roster that comes with the game that starts on January 1st, so I can go in and release all free agents that signed in the 2012/13 off season, have spring training, etc...
I'd also like to not be forced to have nicknames and I'd also like to use Questodog's name file rather than the default name file that comes packaged with the mlb quickstart file. I've tried a few ways, all of them failing miserably. Any ideas?

The Game's right. Saving as a template and adding it to another league that has the startdate you want will do the trick.

I am upset with myself for not thinking of this. Thank you, guys!

Easiest way to get rid of the nicknames and release the free agents that signed is once you get the league setup, export the rosters and open them up in a spreadsheet. Delete everything in the Nickname column. Locate your signees that you want to release and set their team id to 0 (zero).
Reimport into ootp and the nicknames will be gone and your signees will once again be free agents. |
